Bank of Maharashtra Aims To Resolve About 25 Stressed MSME Loans Under Pre-Packaged Insolvency Resolution Process

Mumbai, April 24: In a bid to help the stressed micro, small and medium enterprise (MSME) sector, the State-owned Bank of Maharashtra is looking out to roll out a plan at resolving 20-25 stressed MSME accounts under the pre-packaged insolvency resolution process. The news was announced by a senior bank official, a report by PTI said. Earlier this month, the government had introduced a pre-packaged insolvency resolution process for stressed MSMEs by amending the insolvency law.

With the coronavirus pandemic, several sectors have taken a major hit. Bank of Maharashtra’s general manager (credit – large and mid-corporate, MSME) Sanjay Rudra said with the outbreak of the COVID-19 crisis, the stress on hospitality, luxury retail, tour operators, lodging and restaurant operators has increased considerably. “I expect around 20-25 stressed MSME accounts to be resolved under the pre-packaged insolvency resolution regime in the coming months,” he said.

Rudra said this during a webinar organised by MVIRDC World Trade Center, Mumbai and All India Association of Industries.

Here’s how to stressed MSME would benefit:

  1. Under a pre-packaged process, main stakeholders such as creditors and shareholders come together to identify a prospective buyer and negotiate a resolution plan before approaching the National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT).
  2. Rudra said under the pre-packaged insolvency resolution system, the government has given an opportunity for MSMEs to resolve their stress at an early stage while holding control over their business.
  3. “Now, MSMEs should maintain complete transparency in the whole resolution process to regain trust and confidence of lenders,” Rudra said.

Meanwhile, AZB & Partners cofounder Bahram N Vakil said MSME promoters should file for resolution with the NCLT only after having a robust base plan. According to a report by PTI, Vakil said that if the promoters could come out with a resolution plan with a minimum possible haircut for operational creditors and if it is also acceptable to the committee of creditors, then the chances of such plans being challenged in the Swiss challenge auction are less.

Tech Startups To Get Major Boost As India and Singapore Ink Pact To Usher an Entrepreneurial Ecosystem

New Delhi, April 24: India and Singapore have inked a pact to boost the startup ecosystem and encourage start-ups to take advantage of the Singapore-India trade and technology corridor. Under the pact, the Singapore Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SICCI) and Start-up Incubation and Innovation Centre (SIIC) of IIT-Kanpur have come together to provide a gateway of opportunities to tech-based start-ups. This would help these startups to usher a circular economy and an entrepreneurial ecosystem.

India is today the third largest start-up ecosystem in the world, with over 45,000 start-ups in various stages. In 2014, only four start-ups in India were in the Unicorn club. According to a report by PTI, the SICCI-SIIC conducted the first in a series of cross-border collaborations on Friday under a memorandum of understanding (MoU) signed on March 10, 2021.

Here’s how the pact between India and Singapore would help tech start-ups:

  1. The two institutions are collaborating to identify young, indigenous talent to provide them with an array of incubation services.
  2. A joint statement said that this one-of-its-kind association will provide start-ups in Singapore and India a competitive edge in the global market.
  3. With an array of services, both SICCI and SIIC will promote homegrown and international initiatives operating in the technology domain with mentorship and access to capital.
  4. To galvanise their efforts towards promoting indigenous innovation, SICCI-SIIC Launchpad Competition – SICCI-SIIC INNOVATION LAUNCHPAD – held a start-up pitch competition on a virtual platform.
  5. Nine pre-selected contestants – five from Singapore and four from India – pitched their ideas to the judges.

Prof Amitabha Bandyopadhyay, in-charge of Innovation and Incubation at IIT Kanpur, said that LaunchPad 2021 is the first of many upcoming endeavours that marks the beginning of an unseen era in the incubation ecosystem. “SIIC and SICCI have come together to develop a symbiotic relationship to benefit indigenous innovations in our respective countries,” he said.

“As we open our doors for their startups to explore the Indian market, and vice versa, we bring in a plethora of opportunities for all stakeholders. We are delighted to support tech-based businesses that are sustainable, ensure value-addition, and provide local employment opportunities,” he added.

Meanwhile, SICCI Chairman Dr T Chandroo said with SIIC, we plan to provide a well-deserved launchpad to our start-ups and those in India to create well-established global brands that thrive on excellence, innovation, and ingenuity. It was with this expectation that the Prime Minister of India launched the ‘Startup India’ initiative in January 2016.

3 Exclusive Stories of Ajit Doval we bet you didn’t know Before!

Ajit Doval, the fifth National Security Advisor of India, who is also popularly known as the “James Bond of India” is in the headlines, once again. Twitter campaign #BharatRatnaforAjitDoval to confer the highest civilian award to Mr. Ajit Doval which was initiated by Dr. Vivek Bindra, an internationally acclaimed business motivational coach, Founder, and CEO of Bada Business has garnered support from millions of Indians.

Mr. Ajit Doval has a firm hand in shaping India`s foreign policy and strategic responses to the national and international crisis. And, it will not be an overstatement to call his approach the “Doval doctrine”. Mr. Ajit Doval, who was awarded the Kirti Chakra for his meritorious services, does not hesitate to roll up his sleeves and get into action, whenever our country has faced any challenges.

Here are few interesting stories that earned him the title of James Bond of India”:

  1. Delayed Pakistan`s Nuclear Test

After India conducted its first successful Nuclear Test in Pokharan on September 7, 1972, under the leadership of then Indian Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, Pakistan too wanted to go ahead with their Nuclear Test with the help of China and France.

However, when France realized that Pakistan wants to conduct Nuclear Test, not for a technological purpose, but for nuclear weapons it decided not to support Pakistan. The Pakistani scientist Mr. Abdul Qadeer Khan went to North Korea to ask for help.

The ongoing developments in Pakistan concerning their Nuclear Test grabbed the spotlight across the globe. The Indian Prime Minister Mrs. Indira Gandhi formed a committee of RAW and Intelligence Bureau to keep an eye on Pakistan`s ill-intentions.

Mr. Ajit Doval was selected to lead the committee of Intelligence Bureau and was sent to Kahuta- a place in Pakistan, as an undercover agent to collect the information. Khan Research Centre in Kahuta was the nuclear base of Pakistan where all the research associated with the test was taking place.

He spent seven years in Pakistan disguised as a beggar to gather the information. He started tracking every scientist who was visiting the nuclear base, frequently. However, despite all his efforts, he was unable to track and identify the ones who were working on the nuclear project.

He came to know from his own studies that if any person who is works on a nuclear weapon, his body absorbs the radiations. And if he can get the sample of skin, hair, or nail from that person he can find out about the scientists who were working on the nuclear test.

He then disguised as a beggar and started sitting outside the barbershop where all the scientists were going to get a haircut to collect the samples. He used the collected information to build a diplomatic strategy that delayed the Nuclear Test of Pakistan by 15 years.

  1. Helped to End Insurgency in Mizoram without lifting any arms

The stories of Mr. Ajit Doval`s courage are endless. One such story of where he showcased his excellent diplomatic skills is of Mizoram. In 1986, Mizoram was held to ransom by the Mizo National Front army and its leader Laldenga. As a mid-level IB officer in the northeast, Mr. Ajit Doval was appointed to tackle the insurgency.

He infiltrated the underground Mizo National Front, weaned away as many as 6 core commanders from the group, and disintegrated the party, forcing its leader Laldenga to sue for peace. The Mizo Accord of July 1986- post 20 years of insurgency—was the result of Indian hero Doval`s initiative.

  1. United Sikkim with India with his smart approach

Very few people are aware of this story as it hardly gets a mention anywhere. On 16th May 1975 Sikkim officially became a part of India. This might sound like a simple fact based out of history, but the journey was not that easy. When India was struggling to make Sikkim as one of its states, it was Mr. Ajit Doval`s effective and powerful strategy that turned that dream into reality.

The then King of Sikkim married an American girl. However, the girl was working as a CIA agent, and India was frustrated with the decisions that were taken by America. Also, the increasing American dominance over Sikkim was a matter of immediate consideration for India. Hence, Mr. Ajit Doval was once again given the responsibility to get India out of the crisis.

Doval came to Sikkim and started interacting with the locals. He also managed to get the support of one regional leader of the Sikkim National Party. Later, when elections were held by the national assembly, more than 97 percent of the electorate voted for the merger of Sikkim with India.

Ajit Doval is a highly decorated IPS officer of Kerala Cadre. Currently, he is heading the National Security Council of India. He has dealt with the country`s most crucial and complex domestic and international challenges that threatened India`s security and sovereignty.

There are so many interesting and exciting stories related to his life that are still unheard of.

Digitalisation To Play Key Role in Growth and Development of MSME Sector in India, Says Nitin Gadkari

With an aim to development of small businesses in the country, digitalization across areas like marketing and manufacturing would play a critical role, Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Minister Nitin Gadkari said. The Minister also emphasised the need for technologies that can help expand economically viable MSMEs in the rural and tribal areas across the country. He also pointed out that MSMEs account for 30 percent of India’s GDP, 48 percent of the exports and have created 11 crore jobs. The government aims to take this to 40 percent GDP contribution, 60 percent exports, and create 5 crore new jobs.

“Digitalisation in MSMEs is the most important subject…digitalisation is a solution by which we can make our system transparent and time-bound,” he said at an event held by Microsoft. In his address, Gadkari noted that marketing is an important arena for MSMEs and a number of small companies that have started marketing online are seeing excellent results. He added that digitalization can play an important role for the manufacturing sector in enhancing processes, he said, urging the tech sector to collaborate with MSMEs to help them in these processes. He said the most important agenda for the government is development of MSMEs in the rural, agricultural, tribal areas and 115 aspirational districts.

“This area is where GDP contribution is very negligible…So we need to find technology which is useful for making economically viable MSMEs in the village, rural, agricultural and tribal area,” he noted. He added that while these areas have raw materials, a digital system that is result-oriented can be brought in that will create a win-win situation for all.

How to host a successful webinar? Top 3 Impactful ways to Host a Webinar that your Audience will Love!

Webinars are dime a dozen. The webinars have flooded the internet over the past few years. And according to a report by Content Marketing Institute, “more than 60% of the digital marketers are currently using webinars as part of their marketing strategies.”

As successful webinars especially for startups are becoming one of the most effective and profitable ways of attracting potential customers, more marketers are beginning to take advantage of them.

Many of you will find it unbelievable. But do a quick Google search for the term “webinar” and you will be presented with more than thousands of results. You will feel like you have entered into a webinar jungle. But the key is to not get lost in the webinar jungle just yet.

There is a reason why the concept of the webinar is becoming increasingly successful and popular. And out of all, the primary one is- that they WORK!

However, there is a catch. A webinar becomes successful only if done correctly. And guess what, the road is far from easy!

Boring, bland, and beige- most of the webinars are just that. When was the last time you attend a webinar that was exciting, engaging, and informative- all at the same time?

A successful webinar can convert visitors and subscribers into real customers because they have already signed up for it and looking for exactly what you have promised to deliver. People love practical guidance because it helps them.

So if you are looking to host a successful webinar for your business startup, here are the top three most essential and effective ways to have one:

  1. Quality Content is Paramount

If you have decided to host a webinar, of course, you are interested in sales. After all, you are not shedding money for a bunch of free leads to watch your webinar for no reason. However, focusing too much on the end sales and not enough on content is one of the biggest mistakes that people make.

Content is imperative to make a webinar successful. Good quality content is imperative. And you cannot sacrifice with it. Do not ever compromise with the quality for the sake of quantity, speed, or a potential sale. It Never Works!

So how can you create engaging content without ever sacrificing the quality?

There are three components and three simple ways to do it. And to make it easier for you, we are revealing them all, right here.

a). Presentation– Does your webinar looks professional? Do you have a speedy internet connection? What is in the background behind you? Have you practiced sufficiently? Your users will judge your webinar on visual appeal.

Also, it is essential to remain mindful of your customers while creating content. If you are marketing to a less professional audience, less professional materials will resonate more with them.

b). Storytelling– Do you think you are an entertaining storyteller? Can you present your content clearly and concisely? If yes, then you are good to go! If you struggle in this area, you can also hire a ghostwriter or a copywriter to assist you in your webinar production.

c). Interaction- Last, but far away from the least is Interaction. Interact with your audience. Answer their questions. Resolve their queries. Provide feedback and your expertise, all in real-time.

Also, do not talk about your product until the very last of your presentation.  Provide great content first, and sell at the very end.

  1. TIMING is ESSENTIAL

Timing is everything! And when it comes to webinars, it is crucial in a couple of ways.

Firstly, decide when you want to host your webinar. Pick a time that will be convenient for you as well as your audience. Secondly, do not start promoting or advertising your webinar a day before. Start advertising about it at least a month before. Also doing a countdown on your webinar is recommended.

Lastly, decide on the length of the webinar. What should be the duration of your webinar? As your audience is busy, you will be taking a chunk of their precious time. Respect it. And try to keep your webinar for 30-60 minutes.

  1. PREPARATION

Prepare, prepare, prepare as this is the most important key to host a successful webinar for startups. This is not the place to miss it.

Pick an appealing and compelling headline. Shoot a short video, reel, or write a short blog to tell people what they can gain and learn in your webinar and, how that knowledge will add value to their life.

Then start advertising it on all your social media channels. Always ensure that the webinar is free and/or it’s a limited-time opportunity. If this is the first time you are hosting a webinar then practice your presentation skills.

Your speech should sound casual, conversational, and natural. Practice it, until you get it right. Do not hesitate to ask for help. You can also take a professional`s help in nailing the webinar.

With the above-mentioned tips, your webinar will be a hit! Have any of your tips to add? We would love to hear them.

Startup India Seed Fund Scheme To Support Startups and Domestic Entrepreneurs; Here’s How the Scheme Would Help Businesses

New Delhi, April 20: Startup India seed fund scheme would support domestic entrepreneurs and their business ideas that often cannot take off due to the absence of critical capital at an early stage, Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal on Monday said. The Startup India seed fund scheme was announced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in January to support startups and help budding entrepreneurs pursue innovative ideas. The Minister said that good ideas often get bought out by international venture capitalists at throwaway prices.

While launching the scheme, Goyal said that the idea behind the scheme is to ensure adequate availability of funds, particularly to startups with good ideas in different fields. “I do hope that this scheme will support our domestic entrepreneurs and their business ideas that often cannot take off due to the absence of critical capital at an early stage,” Goyal added.

The scheme will be implemented from April 1, 2021. The Rs 945 crore corpus will be divided over the next four years for providing seed funding to eligible startups through eligible incubators across India.

Here’s how the Startup India seed fund scheme would benefit the startups:

  1. The scheme will secure seed funding, inspire innovation, support transformative ideas, and facilitate implementation of those ideas.
  2. Smaller towns are often deprived of adequate funding and this scheme will create a robust startup ecosystem in Tier 2 and Tier 3 regions of India.
  3. The government has constituted an Experts Advisory Committee(EAC) which will be responsible for the overall execution and monitoring of the scheme.
  4. Over 7,500 new startups are incorporated every year and it is essential to provide seed funding to startups with innovative ideas to conduct their ”Proof of Concept”.
  5. The scheme is being launched by DPIIT (Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade) to support this early-stage startup funding.
  6. It would provide financial assistance to startups for Proof of Concept, prototype development, product trials, market entry and commercialization. The scheme aims to support an estimated 3,600 entrepreneurs through 300 incubators.

Reports inform that the online portal created by DPIIT for the scheme will allow incubators to apply for funds under it. Also, grants of up to Rs 5 crore shall be provided to the eligible incubators selected by the EAC. The selected incubators would provide grants of up to Rs 20 lakh for validation of Proof of Concept, or prototype development, or product trials to startups. According to eports, an investments of up to Rs 50 lakh will be provided to the startups for market entry, commercialization, or scaling up through convertible debentures or debt-linked instruments.

5 Reasons why Content Marketing is Crucial to your business!

‘Content is King’-we all have been hearing this since the evolution of digital marketing. But, as the coronavirus pandemic continues to ravage the world`s economy and countries, this phrase seems to fit the bill like never before- especially for the entrepreneurs who rely on content marketing campaigns to attract more audience and get the word out about their business.

We live in an era where the audiences are tech-savvy enough to recognize the reliability and ignore the noise from the traditional advertising methods.

According to a Mckinsey report, India`s newly digitizing sectors have the potential to create a whopping-sized economic value by 2025. From $130 billion to $170 billion in financial services, including digital payments; $50 billion to $65 billion in agriculture; $25 billion to $35 billion each in retail and e-commerce, logistics, and transportation; and $10 billion in energy and healthcare, the trend of businesses going digital is going to stay.

Considering how smart and discerning audiences have become, businesses are making constant efforts to reach out to potential customers with content that is more valuable, reliable, and consistent.

This era belongs to the quality content and the rule for businesses. It is not an exception but has become a necessity as it allows businesses to produce and deliver the information to the audiences.

Despite the positive trend, some businesses are not so keen to focus on content marketing because they see it as an unnecessary expense. In reality, content marketing is crucial to your business because of the following reasons:

1. Helps to Win your Audience`s Trust

Can you win your audience`s trust by merely advertising your products? Not really! Your customer will begin to trust you only after you provide content that is reliable and valuable. Nobody is interested to know how many technical features smartphones have in them. People are keen to know how that one phone can make their life simpler.

Similarly, by engaging your customers and providing solutions to their immediate problems through your content, you are building a relationship with them.

Focus on the quality of your content, and you will improve the reputation of your brand gradually. This will eventually foster your customer`s loyalty to it, and that is always good for your business.

2. Makes Audiences come back for more

An interesting fact or story told excitingly entices the reader and makes them come back for more, repeatedly. Be it your website, social media pages, or any other digital media platform, brilliant content always helps! Providing your audiences with quality, engaging, and informative content can give your potential customers a positive experience.

This positive experience can reinforce their perception of your brand and they will keep coming back to consume more of your content.

3. Helps to build a brand authority

Publishing quality content showcases your expertise in your field. Whether you are writing an article, blog posts, infographics, podcasts, or any other type of content to give your audiences solutions to their problems, you are positioning yourself as an expert worth their attention.

Audiences tend to remember the brand and businesses that give them the information they desired. Once your authority is established online, higher rankings on search engines for your website will likely follow.

4. Helps to generate leads

One of the primary goals for any business is to generate revenue. Revenue comes from sales. And sales are possible only with quality leads. An effective content marketing strategy helps to generate useful information for free.

With the help of content marketing, people will be able to find you and your products easily. You can place catchy taglines, titles, and calls-to-action (CTAs) that will help get people to give your business the much-needed leads. This will bring potential customers to your website and will result in leads and more sales.

5. Boosts Conversions

When all is said and done, we come down to conversions. To run a business successfully, it is essential to make money. This becomes only possible with conversions.

Today, customers are fed up with all the ads that businesses are trying to feed the social media platforms every second. Hence, traditional commercials will not get you the desired results for your business.

Content Marketing on the other hand can help you inform your customers with useful information that will attract them and build their trust over time. Once that trust is established between you and your customer, it will be easier for your audience to make a purchasing decision.

Content marketing is an integral part of your Digital Marketing. Hence, it is very essential to plan out an effective strategy and consider whatever you spend on it as an investment that will bring fruitful results.
